This is one of the friendliest National Parks we have been to. One of the volunteers pointed out the trails and sights in the park. We were interested in the Crystal Cave tour so she also told us about that as well.
We headed towards the inside of the park. There is road construction that allows you in every 30 minutes.
This was one of our first views of the Giant Sequoia. They are absolutely magnificent. It's hard to picture their massiveness.
We stopped at the giant Auto Log.
Here is Jim standing on it giving some perspective of the size.
Here he is on the roots.
This is where the cars would drive on it, but it is closed off now.
We followed the road admiring the dogwoods in bloom.
This is a roadway with four giants guarding it. If you look closely at the bottom you can see our car going between them.
It was getting late and we still had to head back down the mountain so we left the rest of our exploring for tomorrow.
