We had an early morning wake up call in order to get to Scoot City Tours by 8 a.m. We were taking a tour through Red Rock Canyon in these cute little cars.
Our guide went over everything we needed to know to make the little cars go. They are actually classified as mopeds.
Soon we were off. There were five cars with two people each plus our guide. We headed down the road mainly riding in the bicycle lane. The fastest we ever went was 35 mph, but in that little car it seemed pretty fast.
We headed into
Our first stop would be the Visitor's Center.
We parked in a row and went inside. We attracted quite a bit of attention. Our guide said people say they look like skittles as they go down the road or a Disneyland ride escaped.
And we were off again!
There was another overlook we stopped at and had enough time to hike down towards the bottom of the big rocks.
There was certainly an art to getting in and out of the cars. You pretty much had to get one leg in or out and then pick up the other leg to get it inside or outside the car.
We continued on driving the 13 mile scenic ride. The weather was beautiful with very little wind.
There were a couple of these signs, but we never did see a tortoise.
The sights were pretty spectacular!
There was a bird singing and I was able to catch this Cactus Wren. It was really loud for one little bird.
We headed out the canyon with some final views.
Continuing to travel on the road, we made one more stop. We had to fill up at the gas station. Each car holds a gallon of gas and we had used a half gallon. The cars get 85 miles per gallon.
We got a few more doubletakes from people when they saw the line of little cars.
Wow, that is so cool. I love the photo of the two of you in "your" red car.
ReplyDeleteWe are so happy you got to see Red Rock Canyon.
Score on capturing the cactus wren.
