Goliad State Park

February 6, 2012

We arrived at Goliad State Park this afternoon in Goliad, Texas. Goliad is a tiny town with less than 2,000 people, but this area is full of history.  Remember Goliad! was one of the cries along with Remember the Alamo! at the Battle of San Jacinto during the Texas Revolution.  I'll write more about that later.

The campsites here are large with full hookups, lots of room, and green grass.

After we got set up, we drove around to check out things here. There is a paddling trail, but right now the San Antonio River is high from the recent rains and the trail is closed. Hopefully, we'll be able to get on them while we are here.

There are also bike trails, 2 missions, monuments and a battlefield to explore.  I started reading Texian Iliad to give me a more detailed account of the Texas Revolution. Hopefully, all of this will keep us occupied. :)
