We woke up at 6:30 so we could get to Eco Pond near the campground in search of birds.
On our walk over there, we caught the sunrise.
Eco Pond did not disappoint us. Warning: many bird pictures! Birds were abundant on the pond, flying back and forth trying to find the best feeding spot. We were on the lookout for the Roseate Spoonbill. We had only seen glimpses of them before.
They were there! They changed places several times with us getting many views of them. Absolutely gorgeous!
This is a Wood Stork we caught in flight with it black tipped wings.
More spoonbills
Another close up
The sun was just right with full reflections of the pink birds.
We spent a couple of hours just observing and taking pictures. What fun!!!
Later in the afternoon we drove to the Mahogony Hammock trail and also checked out a couple of kayaking spots.
In the evening, we attended a ranger talk, Mating Habits of Animals in the Everglades, very, very interesting!
We're learning a lot here in the Everglades. :)
Oooh, I love your spoonbill photos. They sure have unique head and bills. Also, great action shots of the birds.
