Wild West Balloon Fest and Irma Hotel

The Wild West Balloon Fest has been going on this weekend.  Friday, the first day, the wind was high so we didn't go to the launch thinking it would probably be canceled.  We missed the balloon glow Saturday because we went to the rodeo.  This was the last day to see some of it.  Jim went, but I slept.  I couldn't stand the thought of getting up at 5:30 in the morning.

He took the following pictures of the process of inflating the balloon.

First air is blown into the balloon after it has been laid out.

Then, after the air has been blown in, the blower is turned on to heat the air.  There were about 12-14 balloons.

These were some of Jim's favorites.

After he returned, we went to breakfast at the Irma Hotel.  This was Buffalo Bill's hotel named after his daughter.  There is a beautiful rosewood bar inside that was given to Buffalo Bill by Queen Victoria.

We spent the afternoon getting ready to leave tomorrow and replenishing supplies at Wal-Mart.  We even went to buy some bear spray.

This evening, the Bellamy Brothers put on a free concert in the park.  We took our chairs and enjoyed the music.

On our way home, mama and baby mule deer crossed the street in front of us.

We have loved our time in Cody, but it is time to move on.  Another adventure awaits!
