We Made It To Sunny Florida!

We arrived at Henderson Beach State Park in Destin, Florida hours before the "Polar Vortex" arrived bringing temperatures that haven't been felt here in two decades.  It is sunny, just not very warm. ;)

This is an absolutely beautiful state park.  We have a large, private pull through site.

We are approximately 4/10 of a mile from the beach and we can hear the ocean from our site. There is a paved pathway from the campsites to the boardwalk leading to the beach.

Walking the long boardwalk out to the beach, we got our first glimpse of the white sandy beaches and emerald water.  Beautiful!

The temperatures have been cold, but we have stayed warm inside and bundle up to make our walks along the beach.  It's supposed to be warmer tomorrow and back in the 60's on Thursday.

  1. Join the Polar Vortex club. It was 20 here last night. We brought in our hose and blue water filter. The park staff went to every unoccupied site yesterday afternoon and turned the spigots on a thin stream. By this morning, all spigots had icicles to the ground!

It was so cold yesterday, our 5th wheel furnace wouldn't heat our living room above 60. Thank goodness we have a small electric heater to keep us warm at night!

I hope your weather warms up soon.

  2. Wow! We were sorry to hear about the flood and the loss of your fiver. It seems like everything worked out in your favor.Florida is probably the place to be right now.
Here in NJ we've been suffering with cold and snow most of the winter which has been keeping us from cycling or playing golf. Haha.
After we met you in Big Bend we headed to Ft. Davis State Park, then to Dallas, Hot Springs, Memphis, Nashville and then home. We went to NH for a week and then 2 weeks to Virginia Beach and Myrte Beach. We plan on heading to Alaska around May and expect to be gone for several months.
It's been fun following your blog. Maybe I'll figure out how to do one before we leave for AK.
    Stay safe,
    Lee and Lynda Brush
P.S. Every time I look at your blog it says I'm from Brooklyn, NY or some other weird place even though we live in NJ..

    1. Hi, Lee and Lynda! You will have to blog about Alaska. That's a place we haven't been, but sure would like to go!
