Hoover Dam Walkway

We enjoyed our morning with no real plans.

About 10:30, we decided to head out to Hoover Dam.  As we drove over it the other day, we noticed people on the other side of the wall and found out there is a walkway over the bridge.  That would be our destination today.

Before we got to Hoover Dam, we stopped at the Lake Mead Visitor's Center and admired the views there.

We arrived at the Hoover Dam Walkway. I snapped this picture from the parking lot.  You can either access the walkway by taking the stairs on the left or a winding wheelchair accessible concrete pathway.  We chose the stairs.

We arrived at the top of the walkway to the Mike O'Callaghan Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge.

I can certainly see why it took nearly six years to build!

Some interesting facts about the bridge

The views of Hoover Dam were awesome!

As we walked over the bridge, we noticed this plaque where we were on the Nevada-Arizona state line.

After we walked across and back, we drove on down to the dam.  As we drove down and saw the bottom of the bridge,  you realize the massiveness of it.

We took the old road that went over the dam and you can see the entire new bridge.  What an engineering wonder it is!

We didn't get out and walk along this side of the dam.  We are planning on returning later this week and it was also getting to be a warm 95 degrees.

Oh, yes, my "Only In Vegas" picture for today:

We saw this couple in their wedding attire complete with their limo getting out to admire the view at Hoover Dam.
