One of the things Lisa really wanted to do during her time here was to go rafting on the Arkansas River. So, she and Jim made plans to go today while I took Karli to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.
Karli and I arrived at the zoo located next to the Broadmoor Hotel. It is built into the side of the mountain.
The first thing we did was go to the giraffes. There is a walkway high enough to be a eye and neck level of the giraffes. You definitely have a close encounter with them.
We got the giraffe food and fed them. They definitely have long tongues!
Next, we rode the sky ride going over the zoo and to the top of the mountain overlooking Colorado Springs.
More spectacular views!
There was a playground on the top.
As we came back down, I snapped this picture of the Broadmoor Hotel.
There were gorillas, bears, tigers, monkeys, snakes, penguins, but one of our favorites was seeing the hippos out of the water and so close.
We left the zoo and went back to make cupcakes before meeting Lisa and Jim at Chili's after their rafting trip.
They definitely had a wonderful time. They didn't fall into the water and were really excited about the whole experience. Here are some of their pictures.
We had a great dinner and a wonderful day, but now I want to go rafting on the Arkansas River! :)
